Postalloy® 40 Flux-coated Electrode

Postalloy® 40 is an outstanding aluminum electrode with exceptional weldability and unsurpassed capabilities. The core wire - lowest melting 1000 °F (583 °C). The coating - extruded.... more flux is compacted per inch of core wire than ever before. Together these two features produce an electrode with superior capabilities.

Welding Parameters

Current Type: DC Electrode Positive , AC

Amps Diameter
50-90 3/32" (2.4mm)
80-130 1/8" (3.2mm)

Welding Procedure:

Clean weld area of dirt, grease and oil. Remove oxides by filling or sanding. Bevel thickness over 1/8" (3.2mm) about 75°. On heavy sections, pre-heat 400-450 °F (204-260 °C). On thinner sections, taking the chill out of the work piece will aid weldability. Hold the electrode almost vertical to the work area and maintain a short arc. Since the melt-off rate of the electrode is exceptionally high, due to it's low melting temperature, it will be necessary to feed the electrode rapidly. Back whip all craters. Allow parts to cool then remove slag.
